Lorena E. Alfaro

Lorena E. Alfaro is a senior associate attorney with the Terezakis Law Firm. Ms. Alfaro represents clients before the United States Immigration and Citizenship Services and the U.S. Immigration Court. Ms. Alfaro practices all areas of immigration law but primarily focuses on family-based immigration, including, consular processing, 601A provisional waivers, U-visas and VAWA cases, and naturalizations. Ms. Alfaro has experience with criminal-immigration issues and works closely with Mr. Terezakis with the firm’s criminal and appellate practice, assisting with Federal Court Appeals and Appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals.

Ms. Alfaro completed her undergraduate studies at Hofstra University, receiving a B.A. in Economics and received her J.D. from the Hofstra University School of Law in 2005. While in law school, Ms. Alfaro worked with Mr. Terezakis as his paralegal/law clerk, focusing mostly in criminal defense and deportation-removal defense. In addition to working while attending law school part-time, she was also involved with the Latino Law Student Association and also participated in the Mediation clinic, assisting clients in the area of civil litigation and family law issues working with several programs in the Nassau County District and Queens Civil and Family Court. In 2005, she earned a citation of excellence in Clinical Studies for her work in the Mediation clinic.

She is completely fluent in Spanish. As a daughter of immigrant parents, she understands the struggles faced by the immigrant community. She can understand our clients and forms a connection with the clients she represents.

Ms. Alfaro is admitted to the New York State bar. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Nassau County Bar Association, and the Association of Deportation Defense Attorneys. She is currently Vice-Chair of the Immigration Law Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association.
