Elizabeth Olaya Marquez

Elizabeth Olaya immigrated from Peru with her parents when she was 11 years old and then lived in Miami, Florida. She graduated Phi Betta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude from Florida International University with a B.A. in Political Science and a Minor in Criminal Justice. She then went to The George Washington University Law School and graduated with honors. While in law school, she was the VP of Education of the law school’s immigration law association for the 2014-2015 academic year. At her law school, she was also an Executive Committee Member of the Moot Court Board. Upon graduating from law school, she worked for a transnational law firm where she focused on advising Latin American governmental entities and corporate clients on investing in the capital markets and then worked for another law firm in securitizations and bond transactions. Having grown up among immigrants from various nationalities and knowing the struggles of the immigrant community, her passion for immigration law drove her to begin a career in immigration law. She gained experience as an immigration advocate working at a law firm where she focused on asylum and deportation defense and advised clients on family-based immigration. At The Terezakis Law firm, her practice focuses on family-based immigration and its interplay with deportation defense.
